Sunday Worship

Worship is something that we do every day in response to God’s grace and we can worship Him anywhere. But there is something special about worshipping God together with other Christians. In fact, the author of Hebrews writes that Christians should “not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25)

As an Anglican Church, we worship in the tradition of the Liturgy which is a format of worship that stretches back to the first centuries of Christianity. We gather together, sing together, listen to scripture and preaching together, confess our sins together, pray together, and kneel together at the Lord’s table knowing that we are forgiven through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice. Our worship follows a similar structure every week because it emerges our of our nature and God’s reaching out to us. The Liturgy tells the Covenant Story of God’s people.

The Liturgy is different from other types of worship in that no one is a spectator. We all have a part as the community of God. If you join us you will notice that the congregation is always responding and participating even physically as we stand kneel and sit. It is a beautiful thing when each individual offers his or her gift to God with one another in community.

Our worship is guided by the historic Book of Common Prayer.

- Who We Are -

Christ Church (formerly St. Barnabas) is a congregation that is part of the Anglican Communion which is the third largest church in the world. Every Sunday morning we worship together with 77 million brothers and sisters. The Anglican Communion is an international group of national churches or provinces. We are part of the Anglican Church in North America but currently the largest province is the Church of Nigeria with around 20 million members. From Nigeria in Africa to Singapore in Asia to Bolivia in South America God has blessed and expanded the Anglican Church far beyond the borders of the United Kingdom and the Church of England.
