This is the page for Christ Church Koinonians and Cursillistas and anyone interested in Koinonia. The Fourth Day Movements have played a key role in the renewal of the world-wide Church for over 50 years now. With the advent of the Anglican Church in North America, those who experienced Cursillo are once again free to participate and build the movement. Within Anglicanism, there is a national chartered Anglican 4th Day which is organizing and growing. As of yet there is no presence in the Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes.
Christ Church Westshore is active part of a wonderful inter-demominational group called Westside Koinonia. Koinonia (pronounced coin-no-nee-a) is the Greek word for gathering and fellowship. This is what the Koinonia weekends are all about. Some might remember the Cursillo weekends which share a common structure and goal. These weekends provide a a time to gather with other believers and focus on the love of Jesus Christ and the family he invites us into as the Church.
Westside Koinonia Weekends
The weekend is a short course in Christianity led by laity with structured talks covering the topics of God’s grace, biblical study, Christian action, and other subjects. They are filled with singing, worship, fun and laughter. It is about inviting Jesus into each part of our life. It is amazing how at the end of the weekend, strangers are friends. Koinonia is slightly different from Cursillo in that people come from all denominations in our area. The weekends are held at Olmsted Community Church in Olmsted Falls, Ohio in the Spring and Fall.
How to be Involved
There is a growing group of those who have been on a Cursillo / Koinonia Weekend. We have started to meet regularly as a group. We gather together and eat and sing and talk. We are partnered with Westside Koinonia for weekends and we’re happy to tell you about how our experiences drew us closer to Jesus.
