Holy Baptism is an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace in a person’s life and relationship with God. This sacrament represents the union with Christ in his death and resurrection, birth into God’s family the church, forgiveness of sins, and new life in the Holy Spirit. Following the Anglican tradition, Christ Church baptizes both infants and professing adults.
We conduct Baptisms on four
Sundays throughout the year:
- The Easter Vigil (Holy Saturday)
- Pentecost Sunday
- 2nd Sunday after All Saints Sunday
- 2nd Sunday of Epiphany (Baptism of Jesus Sunday)
We also conduct Baptisms on Sunday afternoons to accomodate families who have out of town guests who can’t be present on the above Sundays.
To be baptized, or have your child baptized at Christ Church, the person / parents must be active members, in the process of becoming active members, or children of active members and professing Christians. Family members from out of town, or members of Christ Church who are away from the Bay Village area due to school or profession must provide evidence of their faith in Christ with a letter from their pastor demonstrating that they have been active members of a Christian church, giving of their time, talent, and treasure, for at least the previous six months.
A meeting with the pastor in order to be fully prepared to make the profession of faith at Baptism is required. To schedule a meeting please contact the office by calling or by e-mail.
