Confirmation is truly the most important decision that we make. It is at this point that we publicly profess Jesus as the Lord of our life. Our mission at Christ Church is to “go forth and make disciples…teaching them to obey all that Jesus has commanded”, we have developed the following policies to faithfully fulfill the great commission among those who aspire to profess their faith publicly in Confirmation. Confirmation is not just a ceremony but a commitment to a lifetime of discipleship.
- Persons desiring to be confirmed at Christ Church must be active in their discipleship and prepared to make the covenant that is required of Confirmands. They must be present at corporate worship for at least six months prior to the Bishop’s visit (usually June).
- They must be active in a local student ministry.
- Since they make a promise to be engaged in service, they must be active in reaching out in works of service here at Christ Church.
- Jr. Hi h2h is our Confirmation preparation class – a three year discipleship / fellowship / service ministry that prepares students to know what they believe and why they believe it. Jr. Hi h2h meets on Wednesday nights throughout the school year at 7:00 p.m. in the Loft.
- Those who choose not to participate, or cannot participate in h2h on Wednesday nights due to scheduling conflicts, can opt to take Christianity Explained with the adults during Sunday morning Discipleship Hour (offered every Fall).
- A mandatory 3 week Confirmation Course is offered in the Fall covering the subjects of Confession, Confirmation, and Call.
- A meeting with the Pastor during the Confirmation Class is required for Confirmation. At least one of the student’s parents must be present.
