St. Barnabas seeks a Music Minister to lead and shape our worship of God through music. The Minister will provide selections and lead volunteer musicians and singers for Sunday services as well as special celebrations. The Music Minister should be in active pursuit of a deep, daily, and personal relationship with Christ, should be able to affirm the fundamental positions of the Anglican Church in North America, and ideally be an active leader and participant in the church life of St. Barnabas. Though this is not an ordained ministry role, it is a lay-pastoral position, subject to the direction of the Rector and Vestry. At this time, the Music Minister is a part-time position, roughly 8-10 hours per week. The salary is negotiable.
Duties:
- Provide keyboard-led music at the St. Barnabas weekly service on Sundays, 10:30am, on Wednesday evenings, and on the traditionally observed Christian holidays and feasts. Should St. Barnabas expand to multiple services, music should be provided at all services either by the Music Minister or by appointed volunteer(s). If this regularly extends hours past agreed upon terms, salary may be adjusted upon Vestry approval.
- Recruit and maintain a close, energized, and prayerful team of volunteer musicians and singers.
Schedule rehearsals on a weekly basis, and maintain and share a calendar to ensure coverage at all of the services.
- Meet regularly with the Rector to discuss upcoming services and the ongoing work of the Music Ministry and attend the parish staff meetings.
- Oversee and maintain all of the music and sound equipment as needed.
- Maintain the CCLI license for worship music.
- There may be times when the Music Minister is asked to perform at events in the life of church such as weddings and funerals. The Music Minister may accept or decline such invitations according to availability. Remuneration for these occasions will be between the Music Minister and the person requesting the service.
